Brice Aggregates

Brice Aggregates first approached Weightlifter Bodies in early 2025, looking for new tipping trailers to support their growing operation.

Since then, we've built eight aluminium half barrel trailers for the business.

Operating from sites at Needingworth and Colemans, Brice supplies aggregates and ready-mix concrete across the Eastern Region, alongside its haulage, muckaway and recycling services. They're also doing some great work away from the day-to-day operation, working with the RSPB to transform restored quarry sites into wetland habitats for wildlife.

We're proud to work with a hardworking independent business like Brice and recently headed down to the quarry to catch up with Fleet Manager Matt Challinor, see our trailers at work and, most importantly, find out how they've been getting on.

For Matt, there were two big considerations when choosing the trailers: payload and safety.

“Payload is everything. If a trailer weighed a tonne more, the difference in purchase price wouldn't really matter because of what we'd lose in payload.”

Driver feedback is also a big part of how the company chooses its equipment. The trailers need to be safe and straightforward to use, regardless of who's behind the wheel.

In other words, the specification gives Brice Aggregates what they need for the work they're doing without adding features for the sake of it.

Almost a year into operation, Matt told us the trailers haven't required any repair work or experienced any significant issues, despite working in demanding quarry conditions. And, just as importantly, the feedback from the drivers has been positive:

Richard Robinson, Lead Driver at Needingworth Quarry, says: “They're really well-built trailers. They've got everything we need to do the job without going over the top. You could put a new driver on one and feel confident they'd be able to use it.”

The rear door and automatic air locking system was one feature that received particular praise, as he goes on to say:

“It's a smart bit of kit. It opens at just the right time to release the load. There's no delay and it doesn't open too soon.”

For Matt, the experience with Weightlifter hasn't just been about how the trailers have performed. He was also positive about the support from the team, from working with Sales Manager Sam Waywell to get the specification right through to the aftercare they've received since.

“Sam has been really supportive throughout the whole process. The aftercare has been great too; whenever we’ve needed anything, the team have been quick to respond and get things sorted.”

That ongoing relationship is important to us - we want to understand what our customers need from their trailers, get the specification right and be there to support them once they're out working.

And after eight trailers and almost a year of putting them to work, Matt is already considering an order for a couple more.

For us, that's one of the best bits of feedback we can receive.
